qualityx20

I screened 20 stocks out from my virtual quality fund top holdings at marketocracy and elsewhere around the net. They are
-well managed companies
-with high Return on Equity, ROE, and above average
-sales growth and profit margins
Market leaders sport ROEs of at least 17%, so I believe those companies aren't mediocre ones and are able to cooperate in various market's climate and that each particular company creates more cash than it consumes.
A smooth sailing after start on board the ASTRA Portfolio.

Crossing start line

Orders to buy placed today before markets open.

GROW DRYS WNR PCU ICE
RIO HURN TNH CNS IDSA
PCP DECK NGA AAPL SID
LOGI USNA XTO IMO BRY

-equally weighted, initially
-buy and hold, most of the time
-cash, about 20% at start
-adding to positions along the way
-trimming positions if necessary
-managing winners/losers
-no stocks will be replaced

Wish this portfolio to be diversified as it's the best
offensive/defensive weapon in any investor's arsenal,
expecting a reasonable constructive performance by the end
of this competition, bear's barrage permitted.

Safe Route

through the rough seas.
For the purpose of this Strategy Lab Open regatta I selected the crew of 21, 20 well managed companies and myself being in charge of taking care about liquidity, just in case. I won't replace them at any time, they will be on board our vessel, call her ASTRA, until the finish line. In making this kind of selection, my previous working experience helped me a lot. Of course, crossing Pacific has nothing to do with the Wall Street, but both endeavors have a risk in common. In this case we believe in safety, regardless the final result. I do believe in good selection, long time frame, discipline and patience, in any sort of quick-rich programs don't.
Enjoy your voyage ASTRA and safe return!
Bear in mind: won't be that easy!

thoughtful conclusions, then they are guided by
inconsiderate impulse, unbalanced appetite,
caprice or the circumstances of the moment.

Financials

15.gif
Unlike the other sectors, Financials were hit hard with another wave of selling in late May and June.
Risk averse investors should be stepping aside until the dust clears.
In my opinion, we won't see Dow at 15000 without this sector, as Financials still dominate other sectors of S&P at 21%. Price/Earnings of only 12 (as of June 30 using XLF), large cap financials are cheap relatively to other sectors. I added more XLF, on recent dip, in my virtual Financials sector fund at Marketocracy
